Increasing School Access

Within the school access component, of the project carried out alongside Educate A Child, we support primary school children who are out of the school system to return to school and remain at it.

We do this through active searches for communities in the project’s target territories: Barranquilla, Cartagena, Quibdó, Guajira, Medellín, and Bogotá, to ensure that 30,000 children have access to education in Colombia.

To date, we have enrolled 24,886 children in public schools in their cities, and we expect to achieve our final goal in 2023.

In addition, we carried out other activities to improve school access, we delivered school kits and school uniforms to encourage students to return to school. Moreover, we will deliver more than 6,200 uniforms and more than 10,000 kits throughout the project.

Therefore, The project will impact 54,000 elementary school students in Colombia.

Lastly, we carry out activities in communities to reach parents and caregivers interested in enrolling their children in school but don’t know the current processes. Hence, the Pies Descalzos team works hand-in-hand with the community to achieve school access for children in Colombia.
