FPD presents the Todos al Cole project at the WISE Summit, in Doha, Qatar

In the framework of the World Innovation Summit for Education – WISE, FPD presented the “Todos al Cole” project in Doha, Qatar, which is carried out in partnership with the Education Above All Foundation. Likewise, we joined the celebration of our partners’ 10th anniversary.

During the two-day event, the project participated in the “Re-Ignite action to transform the lives of those left behind” (Spanish) panel and had a special stand where the actions developed in La Guajira, one of the departments with the greatest challenges in terms of access to and permanence in school, were presented.

The project, which seeks to contribute to the access and permanence in schools of more than 60,000 primary school children in the country, has built 6 educational centers in the department of La Guajira and has helped more than 5,500 girls and boys to enter and remain in school.

In this edition, Vanessa Pacheco, project alliances professional in the city of Barranquilla, was the spokesperson for the Foundation in Doha, highlighting the work done throughout these three years not only for the students accompanied but also for the communities impacted in the territories. “From the Foundation we understand the importance of working together with the communities; in addition to accompanying them, we also require their willingness to work with us to build social fabric and improve the quality of Education in Colombia. This is the only way we can generate a real change and leave a mark on the power of education”, she said in her speech.

On the other hand, the Foundation represented Colombia with a unique stand where the actions carried out within the framework of the Todos al Cole project were presented, bringing a piece of La Guajira to Doha. In particular, a traditional classroom of the Wayúu community, as well as handicrafts from the region to showcase their culture, traditions, and worldview to the world.

More than 6,000 people participated in the event and visited the Colombian Hut, as the space was called, to learn about the impact that the Pies Descalzos Foundation and Education Above All are developing to promote access to and permanence in school for primary school children.
