  • Have 2 months of availability for volunteering.
  • Medium level of Spanish.

The Foundation has three main areas of work (education, second language and psychosocial), however, we are open to receive fresh ideas to contribute to provide quality education in Colombia.

Each of the volunteer periods has a duration of two months and can only be done as follows:

Each of the volunteer periods is two months long. Remember to register at least one month before the volunteer period you wish to apply for.

FAQ

At the Pies Descalzos Foundation, we dedicate all our resources to implement our projects to improve quality education, and nutrition to children in public schools we support. This is why we are unable to run with expenses for lodging, transfer and feeding for volunteers.

As a requirement, the volunteer must be of legal age in Colombian territory (18 years) and not exceed 45 years.

Regarding the school calendar in Colombia we do have periods where volunteers can support only the Pies Descalzos Foundation’ activities and not children’s paths in schools due to vacations. In Quibdó, on the other hand, volunteering takes place throughout the year. Moreover, when volunteering is virtual, you can also support throughout the year.

Yes, it’s necessary to have a medium-high level of Spanish fluency, since they are going to support programs focused on Colombian children. To achieve this, it is necessary to be able to have a communication with them.

The process of assignation can take up to one month; because of the different filters that candidates must pass until the volunteer is assigned in the space and program that best fit them.

Yes, with the requirement that they must be older than 18 years old.

The Pies Descalzos Foundation offers three regions, Barranquilla, Cartagena and Quibdó. The volunteer is who decides in which region he or she wants to develop its voluntary work.

Yes, keeping in mind that the minimum duration is two months per region.

In order to gain a significant amount of learning for both students and volunteers, the minimum time of permanency in field is two months.

No, the volunteer is the one who decides the duration of the voluntary work.

No. Not under any circumstances do we accept minors to perform volunteer work.

The Foundation sends the volunteer a guide of the region in which they’ll find recommendations for accommodations, however, it is the volunteer who has the final decision about its place of residency during the volunteering.
