We begin construction in new forest

– In 6,000 m² built, 1,000 children and young people will be able to attend classes and dream of a different future for themselves and their community.
– 53,419 inhabitants of the El Bosque neighborhood in the city of Barranquilla, will be beneficiaries of the community center framed in the Open School Strategy of the new institution.
– The duration of the construction of the project will be approximately 1 year; planned to be delivered in 2020

The Nuevo Bosque Educational Institution project will benefit 1,000 students from the community. This will be a totally new building, with safe and relevant spaces for teaching and learning for children and young people.

This project is carried out within the framework of the public-private alliance managed by the Pies Descalzos Foundation, in which the following are involved: The Barranquilla District Mayor’s Office, the La Caixa Banking Foundation, the Barcelona Football Club Foundation, the LCI Education Foundation and the Barranquilla Ministry of Education .

In Nuevo Bosque, its 53,419 inhabitants may be beneficiaries of the new institution. The project seeks to bring to Colombia an academic and community space that provides sustainable development tools for the community.

To carry out this process, the Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla managed the acquisition of 27 properties with a total area of ​​6073.24 m2. The construction project of the First phase of the New Forest Educational Institution, contemplates the construction of the structure in reinforced concrete using a system of beams and columns of four (4) blocks.

The New Educational Institution will have the following spaces: four (4) preschool classrooms, ten (10) elementary primary classrooms, twelve (12) high school classrooms, one (1) library, two (2) laboratories, one (1 ) technology classroom, one (1) artistic expression classroom, one (1) dining room – multiple classroom, kitchen, sanitary batteries, administrative areas, staff room, Fundación Pies Descalzos office, two (2) spaces for shops and areas of game; the above in a total built area of ​​5,862 m2.

The total cost of the project is 15.1 billion pesos, and it is given thanks to the joint effort of the National Government, the Local Government and International Organizations that have believed in this commitment to education.
