Commemoration Day Of The Victims In Chocó

In the post-conflict context that our country is currently living in, we want to accompany and promote the processes of reconciliation, peace and tolerance that our educational community lives.

The passage of the war in Colombia left thousands of victims within the whole territory, being Chocó one of the most affected areas. That is why, in the past, in the city of Quibdó, capital of Chocó, the day of solidarity with the victims of the armed conflict was commemorated. For the development of the event, some victims of the armed conflict, public officials, social organizations and students from some schools in remote areas, such as the María Berchmans School – Pies Descalzos, were gathered at the Malecón de Quibdó, on the banks of the Atrato River, Headquarters of the school Antonio Ricaurte.

In a symbolic and cultural act, organized by the territorial direction of Chocó and Unity for Victims, recognition and commemoration were made by all those affected by the war in our country. Within this act, the main protagonists were the students, who through artistic and cultural show stressed the importance of providing support to human beings beaten by violence, thus recognizing their rights and dignifying them.

At Pies Descalzos Foundation we believe that with Quality Education can be break the circle of poverty and thus improve the future of children in Colombia. However, we also firmly believe that education is not only given by an academic pensum, but must also be mediated by tools for life; tools that will make us human beings more tolerant, more supportive, more aware and inclusive; being able to live like this in a country in peace.
