Virtual Education With edX
Thursday 22 February 2018
We have joined efforts with edX to generate greater educational impact in Latin America through the visibility and usability of its virtual educational platform. This alliance will focus on delivering educational material that is useful for the professional development and training of our communities.
edX is a non-profit organization founded by Harvard University and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). It was born with the aim of increasing access to quality education for all, from anywhere in the world. EdX users can take high quality online courses for free. These courses are offered by the most renowned universities and institutions around the world. The organization has also developed Professional Certification programs and MicroMasters to deliver the knowledge that companies are looking for in the labor market.
Content in edX
Some of the universities and institutions that are part of edX and offer Spanish language content are: The Javeriana University of Colombia, The Autonomous University of Madrid and The Inter-American Development Bank. edX currently offers more than 1500 courses, 130 of which are available in Spanish.
The impact that education has on people’s lives is highly powerful. A clear example is the testimony of Juan David Cruz who, thanks to online courses, has managed to advance professionally and help people with visual disabilities to improve their quality of life.
