Student Music Assemblies
Wednesday 11 April 2018
Culture, art, music and dance are essential elements within our strategic axis “Tools for Life” which is part of our intervention model.
At Pies Descalzos School – Barranquilla, projects framed in plastic arts, music and dance are being developed. From there, multiple processes have been carried out in order to promote the artistic potential of the student community. In this way, we want to develop in them values of coexistence, respect and strengthening of self-esteem, with the aim of recognizing multiculturalism, diversity and difference.
From now on, the ensembles of cultural representations such as dance, painting and music are called assemblages. It is important to highlight that in the Music area, the different modalities existing in the institution were created, designed as a strategy to strengthen cultural values, the deployment of creative, expressive skills and at the same time to promote musical understanding and appreciation.
What groups have been formed?
We have created the Orchestra “Pies Descalzos”, the “Semilla de Tambó” Folkloric Group, the Vallenato Group “Los Mallorquinos” and the Rock Group. All are made up entirely of students fromthe educational institution, graduates and some support staff, available thanks to the implementation of inter-institutional agreements. This allows for the exchange of knowledge and the implementation of projects and trials.
We want to highlight the dedication and appreciation for music shown by these groups. They have been able to participate in some local events, thus making known the talent of Pies Descalzos students. We also want to recognize the important leadership and commitment of teacher Rafael Orozco, whose effort and dedication each year has increased the number of a young people interested in art and culture.
