The Pies Descalzos Foundation and CAF -development bank of Latin America-, along with the Secretariats of Education of Barranquilla and Cartagena made an alliance to expand the ‘Creando Juntos’ project. Now, more schools are joining the project. In total, will be 20 public schools and more than 18,000 students, and 400 teachers in the classroom.
“Creando Juntos” seeks the promotion and incorporation of new methodologies to strengthen the role of teachers in the classroom while enhancing the development of 21st-century competencies in children and young people in Colombia.
According to our executive director, Patricia Sierra, “Creando Juntos is a program designed for teachers to continue learning, analyze their work, and face the continuous challenges of education”.
The project also seeks to increase student’s motivation to learn.
For this expansion, FPD and CAF hosted an event to launch the project, in which principals, coordinators, and teachers from several public schools participated to acquire information about the Project Based Learning (PBL) methodology and its relevance within the classroom.
Carolina España, CAF’s representative in Colombia, said that “improving education systems and promoting inclusive quality education is key for Colombia to ensure a good socio-economic future. For this reason, CAF is proud to launch this alliance with Pies Descalzos, which will have a direct social impact in the short, medium, and long term”.
Creando Juntos is a project developed as part of the educational initiatives for children and youth in vulnerable conditions, as well as for teachers and the educational community that works daily to provide quality public education in the country.
