LCI Education Foundation joins our dream
Tuesday 19 December 2017
It’s for the entire Pies Descalzos team, its founder and its board of directors, a reason for immense joy and gratitude, to announce the partnership with the LCI Education Foundation, for the construction of the Pies Descalzos Foundation Educational Project – Barranquilla. This initiative is led by the Pies Descalzos Foundation, the Ministry of Education of Colombia, the Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla and supported by the Social Work La Caixa and the FC Barcelona Foundation.
In the Pies Descalzos Foundation we reach the most vulnerable regions of the country to provide more and better opportunities for children and their community, breaking the cycle of poverty through Public Education with Quality available to everyone. In this way we have made public-private partnerships that have been decisive for the optimal development of our Intervention Model, where providing quality education, tools for life and healthy nutrition are our fundamental axes. There, infrastructure is also a fundamental pillar in order to educate children and young people with quality. It is with this model, that we have achieved in the last 14 years, the construction of 7 schools that today count with 77,000 beneficiaries that can write their history and be part of the development of their regions.
The LCI Education network, headquartered in Canada, with presence on 5 continents and 22 higher education campuses, firmly believes that contributing to education is the way to rebuild the social fabric. As well, in the Pies Descalzos Foundation we believe that the money invested in education multiplies, is a good investment and has the best returns for a country’s economy. With these same convictions we seek to benefit 53 thousand inhabitants and 1,000 students with the construction of a new school in the El Bosque neighborhood, in the city of Barranquilla.
All children in our country count with the talent and desire, now we only need more and better education. We can all be the support that children in Colombia need, so that more kids and teenagers can start their life on the same starting line like others, and be the citizens that Colombia needs to build a future of PEACE.
This is the kind of alliance that makes us proud, to find organizations that believe in our country and commit themselves to actions that change the lives of the most vulnerable: our children. Thanks to LCI Education Foundation and thanks to each partner of this new project! Let’s continue building the change among ourselves, in order to work for that Colombia in just that we all dream of.
